๐ Introduction
This Privacy Policy covers the StatusDrop Android app and the wastatusvideo.com website. The two products use different processing paths, which are described separately below.
๐ Short version: In the Android app, selected originals are compressed locally and are not uploaded. Only finished clips are sent to our service when processing completes. The website uploads selected originals for server-side compression. We do not sell personal information or require an account.
๐ Data We Process
We process only the data needed to provide and protect the service:
- Android app originals: videos selected through the system picker are copied into private app cache and processed on your device. Original app videos are not uploaded to StatusDrop.
- Finished Android clips: the app uploads generated MP4 clips plus order, filename, file size, duration, selected profile, and a SHA-256 integrity hash for verification and delivery.
- Website uploads: videos selected on the website are uploaded for server-side compression and splitting.
- Network and security data: IP address and ordinary server request information are processed for rate limiting, security, reliability, and abuse prevention.
- WhatsApp delivery data: the activation message and sender identifier are processed after you initiate the WhatsApp chat so the service can return the correct clips.
- Website analytics: Google Analytics may process page views, interactions, approximate location, and browser/device details on the website. The Android app contains no analytics or advertising SDK.
- Support messages: information you voluntarily send by email or Instagram is used only to respond to your request.
๐ซ Data We Do Not Request
- No StatusDrop account, name, or profile is required
- No address-book, contacts, location, advertising ID, or payment information
- No broad Android photo/video storage permission
- Original videos selected in the Android app are not uploaded to our servers
- Video content is not used for analytics, advertising, or model training
- We do not sell personal information
Email or Instagram information is processed only when you voluntarily contact us for support.
โ๏ธ How We Use Data
- Compressing and splitting videos locally in the Android app
- Compressing and splitting website uploads on the server
- Verifying the size, hash, codec, dimensions, and duration of finished app clips
- Temporarily storing finished clips for activation and WhatsApp delivery
- Matching an activation message to the correct temporary delivery session
- Preventing abuse, enforcing limits, and diagnosing service failures
- Responding to support requests you choose to send
- Measuring website usage through Google Analytics; the Android app has no analytics SDK
- Displaying website advertising through Google AdSense when enabled; the Android app contains no ads
๐๏ธ Storage & Retention
- On your Android device: selected originals remain in private app cache until you remove them, choose Start over, clear app data, or Android evicts the cache. Generated clips remain for retry if processing or upload fails and are cleared after successful finalization.
- Before mobile finalization: upload sessions use a 10-minute sliding idle expiry and an absolute one-hour maximum. Verified clips are stored temporarily under random server-generated object names.
- After finalization: an unused activation code normally expires after five minutes. Once delivery starts, temporary clips may be retained for the active send for up to 30 minutes. A temporary send failure can create a fresh five-minute retry window.
- Website processing: website uploads and generated clips are retained only for processing, activation, delivery, and bounded retry.
- Successful delivery or expiry triggers automatic deletion. Periodic stale object sweeps provide a cleanup backstop if a process restarts or an immediate deletion attempt fails.
- We do not maintain a user account database or video-history database. Infrastructure providers may retain ordinary security and operational logs according to their own configured retention periods.
๐๏ธ StatusDrop uses temporary storage only. Retention depends on the upload, activation, active-delivery, and retry stage; it is not a single five-minute window for every stage.
๐ฌ WhatsApp Delivery
StatusDrop delivery begins only after you choose Open WhatsApp and send the prefilled activation message. During that flow:
- WhatsApp (Meta) processes the chat, sender identifier, and delivered media under its own privacy policy
- StatusDrop temporarily processes the sender identifier and activation code to match the correct delivery session
- The Android app does not ask you to type or store a phone number
- The service does not access your address book or unrelated WhatsApp conversations
- Operational server logs use a short one-way pseudonymous sender identifier rather than the full phone number or activation-message text
- Delivery currently uses an unofficial multi-device client and is not endorsed by WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc.
StatusDrop is an independent product. WhatsApp is a trademark of WhatsApp LLC. StatusDrop is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc.
๐ Service Providers
We use the following providers to operate StatusDrop:
- Microsoft Azure โ API hosting, clip verification, and delivery coordination
- Cloudflare R2 โ temporary encrypted-in-transit storage of uploads and finished clips
- WhatsApp (Meta) โ user-initiated activation messaging and clip delivery
- Google Play โ Android app distribution, integrity, and store services
- Vercel โ public website hosting
- Google Analytics โ website audience and usage measurement only; it is not included in the Android app
- Google AdSense โ website advertising when enabled; it is not included in the Android app
- GitHub โ public hosting of the GPL Android client source and build instructions
These providers process data under their own privacy terms and only for the functions described above.
๐ช Cookies, Local Storage & Advertising
The Android app does not use browser cookies, Google Analytics, or an advertising SDK. It uses private app cache for selected originals and generated clips as described in the retention section.
The StatusDrop website uses local storage for simple preferences such as remembering that you dismissed a notice. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies to measure website visits and interactions.
When Google AdSense is enabled, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to deliver, personalize, limit, and measure ads. Before serving ads to visitors in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, StatusDrop will use a Google-certified consent management platform so those visitors can accept, reject, or manage their choices.
You can also control cookies in your browser, manage Google advertising choices at My Ad Center, or use Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.
๐ถ Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used our service, please contact us immediately.
โ Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Know what data we collect (described in this policy)
- Request deletion or assistance with temporary service data. Because media storage is short-lived and not linked to an account, contact us promptly with the activation context you have available.
- Use consent controls, when shown, to accept, reject, or manage analytics and advertising choices
- Change cookie and advertising choices through your browser or Google settings
- Contact us with any privacy concerns
๐ Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
Continued use of our service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
